About AccelaRAD

AccelaRAD (formerly Neurostar) was founded in 1999 by graduate students at the Georgia Institute of Technology, backed by the university system. AccelaRAD developed its technology in direct response to an identified need driven by the growing shortage of radiologists nationwide. Two of Atlanta's premier healthcare organizations - Piedmont Hospital and Emory Healthcare - provided the testing ground for AccelaRAD technology and made early contributions to product design and market needs analysis.

Many imaging facilities today continue to struggle when it comes to recruiting and retaining radiologists. While emerging solutions, including teleradiology and online PACS, provide some relief, they are still severely limited when it comes to fully meeting the needs of healthcare facilities. Taking a visionary approach to this challenge, AccelaRAD continues to focus on delivering innovative solutions based on advanced Web-based image communication and management technology provided through a modern “software as a service” (SaaS) delivery model with “save-as-you-go” pricing. Today, the AccelaRAD Virtual Radiology Network (VRN) is used directly by hundreds of hospitals and clinics around the country. It has become the “go-to” solution for radiology groups seeking to expand their off-site reading services.

As we add a new practice to the system, AccelaRAD will place a simple VRN gateway at their location and images will begin immediately flowing back and forth between the site and our offices.
